Dutch invasion in Brazil

After Spanish rule in Portugal, Holland, in search of sugar, decided to send expeditions to invade northeastern Brazil during the colonial period.
His first expedition took place in 1621 in Bahia, however, this was not successful because, in a short time, the Portuguese colonists sent her out of Brazil.
In 1630
there was a second dispatch and this, unlike the first, there has been more successful in Pernambuco

During
its rule, the Dutch sent his prince (Maurice of Nassau) to govern the lands he had conquered, and these form a Dutch colony in Brazil. During this period, the Dutch prince dominated huge part of the northeastern territory.

After
some time, there were many revolts due to high taxes levied by the Dutch. After many conflicts, the governor Maurice of Nassau left his post. This fact facilitated the action of the Portuguese, who had a chance to react in battles such as the Mount of Tabocas and Guararapes.
In 1654
, after many confrontations, finally the Portuguese settlers (supported by England and Portugal) were able to expel the Dutch from Brazil.
